Abzeco staff have been observing, trapping, identifying, and releasing native animals for many years. A love of native fauna combined with astute observation skills has resulted in a great depth and breadth of knowledge of habitats and behaviors. This knowledge is applied to each new survey and habitat assessment, and makes it possible to make rapid predictions of the likelihood of fauna species occurence.
In brief surveys Abzeco typically assesses the likelihood of fauna occurrence based on a review of past records and an assessment of habitat quality. Where higher levels of certainty are required Abzeco provides comprehensive fauna survey services.
Habitat assessments, pitfall techniques for ground animals, mist netting of birds, harp-trapping of bats, Anabat sonar techniques, roof-tile surveys for reptiles, spotlighting, rock and log rolling, timed observations and other techniques are applied as appropriate to ensure confidence in survey results.
