Abzeco staff have wide experience in vegetation communities throughout south-eastern Australia. They have undertaken quadrat surveys, transects, vegetation condition assessments, Habitat Hectare assessments and rare and threatened species surveys for government, municipalities, developers, private landholders and scientific research institutions.
Abzeco has particular skills in weed identification and management. Sandy Cochrane, an Abzeco director, wrote Alien Invaders in 2001 for the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. This text provides identification and control information for environmental weeds across Melbourne, and has been used in the TAFE sector as a reference for Natural Resource Management / Conservation and Land Management training.
Abzeco staff have broad fire-ecology experience and can advise on the application of fire for the preservation of biodiversity.
Abzeco staff maintain a close connection with the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne and with other botanical research organisations around Victoria and Australia. Abzeco prides itself on applying research in practical settings to achieve good conservation and land management outcomes economically.
